1. Who can use CornerTalk
CornerTalk is for people aged 18 and over. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If we become aware that a user is under 18, their account will be removed.
2. What CornerTalk is for
CornerTalk exists to help small groups of people meet face to face in public café venues to have real conversations. It is a coordination tool, not a social media platform. There are no feeds, no followers, no profiles visible to others, and no online communities.
Meetings arranged through CornerTalk must:
- Take place in a public venue (a café or similarly open, public space)
- Involve no more than the small group confirmed through the app
- Be centred on the topic stated in the meeting listing
CornerTalk is not to be used to arrange meetings in private homes, to solicit money, or to organise activity that would violate these terms or any applicable law.
3. Expected behaviour
All users are expected to treat others with basic respect and decency, both within the app and at in-person meetings. Specifically, you must not:
- Threaten, intimidate, or harass other users — in any form, whether in person or via information exchanged through the app
- Engage in or attempt to engage in illegal activity
- Produce, share, or solicit sexualised content
- Behave in a predatory or suspicious manner toward other users
- Use the app to spam others or operate a fake account
- Share another person's personal or financial details without their consent
These expectations apply to your conduct at in-person meetings, not only to anything you post or send within the app. If you behave in a threatening or abusive way toward another user at a meeting, that is a terms of use violation and can be reported.
4. Reporting
The report function exists for genuine terms of use violations. It is not for expressing disagreement with someone's opinions, withdrawing from a meeting, or personal disputes unrelated to safety.
Reports are reviewed algorithmically. Multiple independent reports from different users may result in a warning or account suspension.
Making repeated bad-faith reports is itself a terms of use violation.
5. CornerTalk will never ask for money
CornerTalk is free to use. We will never ask users for payment, donations, or financial details of any kind. If anyone within the app asks you for money or financial information, do not comply and report it immediately using the report function.
6. Personal information at meetings
Do not feel obligated to share your real name, contact details, workplace, or other personal information at a meeting. CornerTalk is designed so that none of this is necessary. Share only what you are comfortable sharing, and only directly with people you have chosen to trust.
7. Account suspension and removal
We reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms. Suspension may occur automatically as a result of the reporting system, or manually where we become aware of a serious violation.
As described in our Privacy Policy, ban records are retained after account deletion to prevent circumvention by re-registration.
8. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes to these terms, we will notify you within the app and ask you to accept the updated terms before continuing to use the service.
